An exercise in branding

Linensforliving.com was a sister site of US-Mattress.com, where I worked as a copywriter from 2012-2014. Before launching the website, the team wanted to create a brand personality that was light, fun, and didn’t take itself too seriously. I believed we could do this by showing different kinds of people sharing linen-related thoughts throughout the site. I pitched the idea of showing illustrated characters and captions at the top of each page. The team liked the approach, so the site went live with the illustrations shown here.

This was pretty early in my career, and I sort of can’t believe I had the freedom to be funny and loose with this work. The website didn’t hang around for too long, and I can’t say for sure, but I think it’s because they decided to take things in a different direction.
